Samsung has recently showcased a similar concept phone at the Samsung Developer Conference 2019 (SDC19) back in October. The leaks now confirm that the next-gen foldable device will be clamshell design. The device folds vertically and has a square form factor when closed. The live images of the device leaked on the Chinese Social Media site, Weibo. Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Fold shares a similar design to the recently introduced Moto RAZR 2019. However, the leak does show a punch-hole camera.
The next-gen foldable device is likely to ship with Android 10 and Samsung’s One UI skin. Several rumors claim the primary camera will feature the Samsung 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX image sensor. The device features a dual-camera and is noticeable when folded. However, there appears to be a secondary screen alongside the dual camera for time or notifications. Therefore, it is uncertain whether the device will feature a touchscreen cover display similar to the Moto Razr 2019.
The leaks show the speaker’s grill and charging port on the bottom while the volume rocker power button on the right spine. The next-gen Samsung Galaxy Fold is rumored to be cheaper and targeted at the mid-segment market to drive sales. This strategy will help bring exposure to foldable devices to the mass market. Latest rumors claim that the device will be launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 18th.
