OnePlus 8 Lite render tips at a return to the mid-range segment

OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus 8 series in the first half of 2020. OnePlus 8 Pro is rumoured to be in the lineup. According to the renders, the company could also be working on a mid-range smartphone, and it could be called OnePlus 8 Lite. However, OnePlus plans to dominate the mid-range smartphone market. According to rumours, the company will launch six new models in the year 2020.

OnePlus 8 Lite

OnePlus 8 Lite renders suggest a flat display while the 7 Pro and 7T Pro models sport a curved display. The device has a noticeable chin at the top and bottom. Regarding the camera, a dual rear camera setup housed in a rectangular camera module and a centred in-screen selfie camera. However, the camera specifications of the device are not revealed yet. The rectangular camera module includes a time-of-flight (ToF) sensor and additional sensors. The rear camera also packs a LED flash and could even feature laser autofocus. The device sports a USB Type-C port, volume button to the left, alert slider and power button to the right. It also features an in-display fingerprint sensor, which means an OLED panel could be expected.

OnePlus is foraying back in the mid-range segment since they launched OnePlus X in 2015. The company exited the segment and focused on the flagship category. Xiaomi, Oppo has been hitting considerable strides in the mid-range segment. So, it makes sense for OnePlus to foray into the segment. OnePlus have been edging out Samsung in the premium segment, but they are getting massive competition from Apple. Apple has been releasing mid-range affordable smartphones for the last two years and turning huge profits. There is no information on whether the device will have 90Hz refresh rates like the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro models.
